The names are given by the elders at birth. Shakespeare (about Juliet) says that a rose still smells sweet even if it has a different name.
Examples of richly named people
One finds many examples showing the connection between a person's name and his destiny. Apple/iPhone "Steve JOBS" was known for being a master of difficult tasks, pushing everyone to do JOBS. First he changed the name from Apple Computers to Apple Inc and dropped the word "computer". Microsoft's 'Bill Gates' is a 'gate' for entering 'bills' or money! Google's Larry Page connected the internet search business to websites. Laxmi Niwas Mittal, a person of Indian descent, is the 56th richest person in the world. Her name “Laxmi Niwas” literally means “where Laxmi (Goddess of Wealth) dwells.
legacy of names
Some naming conventions, except for humans, follow an inheritance. For example, Indian radio amateur call signs begin with the letter V. Indian aircraft registration numbers also begin with the letter V. V denotes "viceroy" and the convention dates back to colonial times.
identity conflict
Some names mean colors. The color orange refers to the color of the orange fruit. Chocolate color is a dark shade of brown that resembles chocolate. I once met Carlo Donati, the head of Nestlé Asia, at lunch and casually asked him about Nestlé chocolates, which looked white. The latter said that they are made from cocoa bean butter, so white.
butterfly
A butterfly looks pretty and colourful. The name "butterfly" also sounds beautiful and has connotations of "fluttering". The other butterfly names in other languages also sound good. For example Papillon (French), Titli (Hindi), Bhanbiri (Sanskrit), etc. The German Butterfly sounds pretty good too.
names of yogis
It is common for a person to change their name after taking a Renunciator's vows. Before his enlightenment, Buddha was a Hindu prince named Siddhartha. Swami Vivekananda, the most famous yogi after Patanjali, used to be called Narendra.

holy names
In India, especially in rural India and a few decades ago, it was common to name children after names of gods or at least add the suffix "Ram" to the names. One belief is that naming someone that way brings blessings. Some common forms of greeting are still used today: "Ram-Ram", "Radhe-Radhe", "Hari-Om", "Hari-bol" and the like instead of "Namaste" or "Namaskar". One belief is that when you greet someone in this way, you are saying a name of God or goddess that brings blessings.
mixed names
Names are also given as combinations of a corresponding god and goddess. It is common to find names like: 'Radhe-Shyam', 'Sita-Ram' etc. An important point to note here is that a goddess' name comes first and God comes after. So you can never find someone named "Shyam-Radhe" or "Ram-Sita".
Determination of a spiritual name
In Indian astrology, a person's name is determined by three factors: the time of birth, the date of birth, and the place of birth. With this information, a specific swara (sound) is achieved, examples are so, di, etc. The name must begin with these sounds. So, in the examples given here, the names could be "Soham", "Soma", etc. and 'Diwakar', 'Divya' etc.
sounds of names
Indian astrology has a system of assigning "swar" or sounds based on the circumstances of birth: time, date and place. So astrology doesn't actually assign a full name, it just swears a name should start with it. The names are inevitably chosen from the Sanskrit language.
vowels and consonants
In Sanskrit there are 17 vowels (considering the short a and the long aa as 2 different) and 34 consonants. Apowerfulis not just a vowel, but could also be a consonant followed by a vowel. So there are 595 ways to start a name with a specific sound. It should be noted that of these, only 108 ways are top recommendations, as follows:
